There is Freedom in Affliction: Psalm 34

There is freedom in affliction!

That’s what I found in my prayer time this morning, and more than any other biblical author, I think David knew the depths of that statement. Listen to the words of Psalm 34:19-20:

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.”

and verse 18 before that:

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

That’s HIS promise today, He will save us, He will deliver us, He will protect us, intercede on our behalf, and revive us! BUT, How are we to respond? David answered that in the beginning of this passage, verse 1-3:

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continuously be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”

We WORSHIP…… we worship the God who provides freedom whether we see yet or not. We worship Him because in the midst of a life filled with mountains and valleys (and David knew ALOT of both) God is the one constant that never changes.

“Lord, help my tongue to dwell on Your praise today. Help me to be a blessing to those around me and to pursue grace and peace, that I might turn from my sin and do good.”

Total time in prayer this week: 3 hours
